SuperFish Hollow Bio Beads are a biological filter media with a unique and innovative design: a porous hollow bead with a biological cavity inside.
This provides a double action filtration:
1) Optimal aerobic filtration through the porous bead witha specific surface area over 500m² per litre. The high oxygen content in the filter media ensures optimal nitrification resulting in detoxification off ammonia and nitrite.
2) The biological cavity inside the bead hasa low accessibilityfor water and oxygen, allowing anaerobic dentrification (breakdown of nitrate).
